Acer Liquid S1 Smartphone Announced at Computex

Acer have announced the Liquid S1 at the Computex press conference in Taipei The Acer Liquid S1 they say, will start shipping in the third quarter of the year in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, UK and Germany, followed by Spain and Italy. It will cost €349 (approx £300).

The Acer Liquid S1 features a 5.7-inch screen with 720p resolution and is powered by a Mediatek quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. There’s also 1GB of RAM as well as single and dual-SIM options (with two slots), though no LTE support. There’s 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card) and given the size of the display it only has a 2400mAh battery but it is removable, in addition to a pair of back and front-facing cameras.

Of particular interest is the software on Acer’s new phone. The Liquid S1 runs Android 4.2 with almost no modifications. Acer does have a few extras built-in, like floating widgets, profiles, and some camera customizations. The buttons are not on-screen, but correspond to the Google-preferred arrangement of back, home, and multitask.
