Amazon Prime members offered free same day collection

Amazon have dealt yet another blow to retailers in the UK as they begin to offer free same-day deliveries. Amazon have announced that they have teamed up with newspaper distributor Connect Group to launch “Pass My Parcel” which will send your package to local shops and high street stores across Britain within 12 hours for free, if you have an Amazon Prime subscription. If you are not an Amazon Prime member don’t worry as the service is still available but will cost you ¬£4.99. It seems that this new service is an even speedier alternative to Amazon’s “Click And Collect” service.

So how does it work?

Basically if you select the same-day delivery option, orders that are placed before 7.45pm will be available to collect from your chosen store by 6.30am the following morning. If you want it the exact same day then just order before the 11.45am cut off and it will be at your chosen store by 4pm. The service can even be used on a Sunday on a more limited basis.

The deliveries will initially be available in more than 500 newsagents and other local stores before Christmas, but Amazon intends to increase the number of pick-up points over the next year. I have just checked my Prime account to see if the option is available and it’s not but I’m sure it will appear shortly.

BeginnersTech was an idea I had one Sunday when I was bored. It is now not only a website but a successful YouTube channel that takes me all over the world. Don’t ever let anyone discourage you. Chase those dreams.
