Apple gets ‘richest’ firm ever title

Electronics giants Apple yesterday were awarded the title of richest firm ever. With the release of the iPhone 5 just around the corner shares have risen to an all-time high of $663.23 in the US. This means that Apple are now valued at $622billion (£396billion).
This new valuation has topped Microsoft’s $618.9billion valuation in 1999. Let’s not forget that Bill Gate’s firm would still hold the record if inflation is taken into account.
So what does this mean? Well here’s a few facts. Apples stock is enough to clear all of Greece’s external debt and are valued at as much as Switzerland’s entire economic output. Quarterly iPhone sales also beat everything sold by Microsoft.
