Apple Ramps Production of New iPhone

In a report from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), it appears Apple may be ramping up production of a new iPhone that is “similar in size and shape” to the current iPhone 5. The report goes on to say that this ramp up in production could indicate a summer launch date.

The WSJ also reports that Apple is continuing to work with its manufactures in Asia on a less expensive iPhone. This lower cost iPhone will most likely be housed in a different shell and have more color options for consumers to choose from.

There has been nothing released on how the specs will differ between the new iPhone and the current iPhone 5, but Apple usually upgrades the processor and camera components. It’s also been rumored that the next iPhone will ship with the next version of Apples iOS operating system.

I am an avid enthusiast of everything mobile. I have used many different platforms, including Blackberry, Android, iOS – and yes – even WebOS. I want to use my experience with these platforms, and my background in engineering, to give my thoughts on the functionality of current mobile technology and its impact on the industry. I hope to foster discussion on these topics, and I am looking forward to hearing from all of you.
