Asus VivoMouse a Multi-Touch Trackpad with a difference

Asus has launched the VivoMouse, a wireless mouse which doubles as a multi-touch trackpad — the first of its kind, claims Asus

The futuristic-looking device is not the first to try to reinvent the mouse, but it also functions as a wireless remote, making it quite a versatile little thing. The circular trackpad supports Windows 8 multi-touch gestures such as pinch to zoom, rotate and Start menu toggle

All these characteristics make it especially good for one-handed control when you’re away from the computer, Asus says. If you’re looking for a device to control your living room media PC, the VivoMouse might turn out to be a good choice.

ASUS VivoMouse
  • 1200 dpi optical sensor
  • 2.4GHz RF wireless connection
  • 3-point multi-touch touchpad
  • 135 x 78 x 25.5 mm

And while we’re on the subject of living room PCs, Asus has also launched the VivoPC, a compact, metallic PC that’s 56mm tall and smaller than a sheet of A4 paper. It sports 802.11ac Wi-Fi for HD video streaming and Asus’ SonicMaster audio technology, which brings “incredible” sound quality with external speakers.

  • Intel® processor with Intel® HD integrated graphics
  • 3.5/2.5 inch SATA6Gb/s HHD/SSD support
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi
  • 2x USB 3.0 & 4x USB 2.0 ports
  • 190 x 190 x 56.2mm

The Asus VivoMouse and VivoPC will be available in Q3 2013. The price for either device has not been revealed.
