BBC iPlayer now with Chromecast support

The BBC iPlayer app now has Chromecast support built in ahead of a launch in the UK today.
After opening up iPlayer you may find you need to wait a minute, or even relaunch the app, this seems to be happening on some devices although on my Nexus 5 it was there as soon as I opened the app.

You’ll see the standard Chromecast icon (above) at the top of the main interface, (highlighted). Getting programs from device to TV are simple, though you need to connect the app to the TV first. Tap the Chromecast icon, select which room you want to pair to, and you’re done. This may seem stupid but it’s in case you have another Chromecast in your bedroom, conservatory or other room

From then on it’s just a case of selecting what you want to watch, sit back and enjoy. I’ve been playing around with it for a little while now and am really happy with it. It’s pretty quick to start playing, the video quality is good and you can even mute the video from the notification tray on your Android device. Pretty slick.

You shouldn’t need the latest version of iPlayer but, the current version of the BBC iPlayer app is in the Play Store, link below.
