BBC_Sport-mainBBC Sport update is now available in the WindowsPhone Store, offering users a way to access sports news in the UK and around the world. Although it has been available in the UK for a while, it will be in other countries soon.

Don’t rush to download if you are happy with older version as it seems rather bulky at the start. You have to select six sports, even if you don’t want six and you can’t go on until you do, which to me seems stupid! Why not slide to choose your sport like the Android app? Once you have selected them you get adverts like the ones below.

These are the app’s features:

  • Home screen displaying the top stories across the world of sport
  • Sections for UK nations and global events
  • Live tile showing top sports headlines
  • Comprehensive football news, analysis, live scores, tables, match stats and text commentaries – plus the gossip column
  • Dedicated indexes for dozens of sports, including football, F1, cricket, rugby union, rugby league, tennis and golf
  • Share stories and results with your friends and followers

Some of you may remember that a third-party developer made a well-regarded Windows Phone BBC News app in 2011. That app was removed from the Windows Phone Store in 2013 thanks to pressure from the BBC, and renamed PaperBoy Downloaded the app? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. BT_WindowsPhone
