Chances Are You Will Switch to BlackBerry 10

During the Quarter 4 (Q4) earnings conference call this morning, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins stated that BlackBerry 10 has been gaining a huge amount of users. However, these are not users looking for BlackBerry upgrades, but users switching from other platforms, about 55% according to Heins. This is quite amazing for a company who was struggling last fiscal year.

Heins went on to talk about the versatility of the new BlackBerry 10 software, stating his “vision plans to expand in other markets other than mobile with BlackBerry 10.” Since BlackBerry 10 is based off of QNX, it can be utilized in a variety of products other than mobile. For instance, BlackBerry is currently being used in the automobile industry.

With all of this news, the future is looking very bright for BlackBerry! Are you going to switch too?

I am an avid enthusiast of everything mobile. I have used many different platforms, including Blackberry, Android, iOS – and yes – even WebOS. I want to use my experience with these platforms, and my background in engineering, to give my thoughts on the functionality of current mobile technology and its impact on the industry. I hope to foster discussion on these topics, and I am looking forward to hearing from all of you.
