Galaxy S3 to get official Jelly Bean update in October

Good news arrived today for Galaxy S3 users who like to remain stock and not root there device. The wait is almost over as CNET confirmed today that the update to Android 4.1 would be ready for deployment to the Galaxy S3 in October, though a more specific date was not named.

It is worth noting those who have carrier locked devices will have to wait longer than those who have purchased there devices outright. This news is for us in the UK only it is unclear when others will receive the update. We reported today about the launch of 4G in the UK and it looks like the 4G S3 will launch with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight from the box.
