Google patent reveals a dual e-ink device

google-logoA new patent has been revealed from no less a company than Google showing off a dual-screened hinged e-ink device that folds like an actual book. Not only does the device, have two displays, it also is equipped with a camera.

I seem to recall a similar device that Microsoft were thinking about, the Courier tablet. Microsoft eventually cancelled the Courier tablet which also had a two-screen design.

google-e-inkSo is there any chance that Google will actually build such a device? We see no reason not to, we all know what Google are like bringing out new devices, remember the “Q”. While there’s always the possibility, we will have to wait and see.

Still, if such a design was to see the light-of-day, we imagine there would be more than a passing interest in consumers. Would it be just an e-reader or would Google add more to the device like Google Play Books integration, of course they would. It wouldn’t be Google otherwise. Then there’s other Google apps like camera, of course. Gallery you would suspect if for nothing else the camera.

Of course, for now, such a device remains nothing more than a design on paper. What do you think, if the price were right, would you be interested in a dual-screen e-ink reader.
And just for fun how about a name, like Nexus E or Nexus e-reader. Stranger things have happened.
