Google on security and safety on the Internet

Google-Security-AndroidAs we approach the holiday season the hackers and opportunists will be hoping they can catch us off guard and that we will just click that innocuous email that lands in our inbox rather than the Spam folder.

Manual hijackers often get into accounts through phishing: sending deceptive messages meant to trick you into handing over your username, password, and other personal info.

They disguise emails to look like official ones from Banks and even online services like Paypal.

Google’s Elie Bursztein, Anti-Abuse Research Lead, has written an excellent blog post on this subject, which is well worth a read.  You will find it in the press release below. Stay safe over the holiday season and don’t be caught out by the bad guy’s.
