Hangouts now allows custom ringtones and notification sounds

Google-Hangouts-banner-640x312Good new for all you Hangout users. Starting today Google is pushing out an update to the Android version of its Hangouts messenger, which brings it almost upto speed with the  Viber and WhatsApp, etc. At least in the custom ringtone and notification sounds. The default call ringtone and message notification sounds of Hangouts are not exactly mind-blowing, then perhaps the new update version 2.1.223 will be of use to you, as it allows you to select the exact tunes that will notify you not for just an event.

Conversations, can now have different ones for each of you contacts and groups.

The option is just where one would expect it to be, in the People & Options menu (3 dots, top right)  for each Hangouts conversation.

It also seems that a user’s Contact Card image is once again their default picture in Hangouts, too. Until now, the app automatically pulled the Google+ profile picture of a given user and used it. The most probable reason for this is one of the previous updates, which finally merged Hangouts’ conversations with regular SMS messages, creating a seamless message stream.

If you can’t wait for it coming to your phone then you can get it here
