So we have arrived at what could be described as the day the most anticipated Jailbreak yet should arrive.
It seems like its been an eternity since we have seen a new Jailbreak release and we are all very excited. As we all know excitement can sometimes lead to making silly mistakes so we have put together this little preparation guide for you guys so that when evasi0n drops today you are fully prepared to get your jailbreak on.
First of all ensure your device is supported
This jailbreak supports more devices than ever before but make sure yours is in the list below before attempting to jailbreak.
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPad 2
iPod touch 4th generation
iPhone 4S
iPad 3
iPod touch 5th generation
iPhone 5
iPad mini
iPad 4
Back your device up
This may seem obvious, but believe me almost after every jailbreak release we get loads of emails from people who didn’t and lost all their data. So go backup now on iTunes or iCloud and make sure that all your data is safe and sound.
If you are already jailbroken you can backup your jailbroken tweaks and Apps using PkgBackup from Cydia.
Restore to iOS 6.1
Now this part is important, When you have made a backup up of your iDevice you should now go ahead and restore your device to iOS6.1. Clean installs are always best before jailbreaking but a simple upgrade using iTunes will do. Do not upgrade using OTA method and if you have restore in iTunes. The reason OTA (Over The Air) upgrades are not recommended is that they are known to interfere with the jailbreak.
Relax
Now that your all set up and ready to jailbreak all that’s left to do now is have patience. All though Sunday is the estimated release day it may not be Sunday here in the UK it could be early Monday morning so rest up.
The evad3rs team have just posted an update on the evasi0n site
Backup your iOS device using iTunes or iCloud before using evasi0n. This way you are sure to never lose any data if something wrong happens.
Please disable the lock passcode of your iOS device before using evasi0n. It can cause issues.
Be patient while the jailbreaking process is running, don’t start iTunes or Xcode in the meanwhile. The best is to not touch the computer until the end of the jailbreaking process.
Just make sure you check back here because as soon as it drops well be posting our step by step guide on how to use the tool.
