How to show the actual signal strength on your iPhone

20130303-130208.jpg

This guide will show you how to see the real-world signal strength of your iPhone.

Phone strengths are measured in decibels (dB) and you can see your iPhones real signal strength instead of the annoying 5 bars with just a few simple steps.

This can be completed on any iPhone, their are no special requirements needed to do this, no jailbreak etc

Tutorial

Step 1: Enter your “phone” screen and dial *3001#12345#* and then press “Call”

Step 2: Your iPhone should now be in “Field Test Mode” and you will now be faced with this screen below. You can see that the 5-bar icon on the top left of your screen has been replaced by a numerical dB rating.

Step 3: You now have two options. You can press the home button to leave this screen and return to your normal settings or you can follow the next few steps to allow you to toggle between both whenever you feel.

To set up toggle option

Step 1: While still in the “Field Test Menu” screen hold down the power button until the “swipe to turn off” screen appears but do not turn your iPhone off.

Step 2: While the “swipe to turn off” is still showing, press and hold the home button until you are returned to the main iPhone screen.

Step 3: You can now toggle between the dB reading bar and the signal bars by simply tapping the figure/logo on the top left of your screen.

So that’s all there is to it. If you get bored and want to return your iPhone to stock again just follow the steps below.

Step 1: Dial *3001#12345#* on your “phone” screen again and hit call

Step 2: When in the “Field Test Menu” simply hit the home button once and your iPhone will be back to normal.
