HTC Release Global Design Tours app in conjunction with Wallpaper*

MAIN

The app launches today with tours of design events in Milan. New York and Hong Kong will follow  next month. The Milan tour, from the Salone del Mobile home furnishing show, includes guides from Wallpaper* editor-at-large Henrietta Thompson, One & Co (HTC’s design consultancy) principal Claude Zellweger and designer Christian Zuzunaga.

The Wallpaper* HTC Global Design Tours app is a well-informed insiders’ edit of must-see shows, installations and events from the world’s top design destinations sent straight to your smartphone. Curated by international and influential designers, the app visits Salone del Mobile in Milan, ICFF in New York and Art Basel in Hong Kong in 2013. Specially selected music tracks will complement each design hotspot.

Each one features 30-40 photos and an accompanying soundtrack. Bizarrely, though, the soundtrack isn’t included, and here in the UK you’re linked to each particular track on Amazon MP3. Same thing in the U.S.

The app is said to be optimized for the new HTC One, but, just about any phone running Android 4.0 or above should be able to run it. It’s basic, but well-designed. If you like pretty pictures of well-designed things, you can take a look by hitting the Google Play link below.
