Huawei new Flagship the P8 with full metal body

huawei-p8Huawei has taken the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone, the Huawei P8 at today’s launch event in London. Using the metal construction we’ve seen in other Huawei devices, the P8 boasts a steel body, a 13-megapixel OIS camera with a new features, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The P8 comes  with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, and runs Huawei’s latest homegrown Kirin 930/935 64bits octa-core 64-bit  processor,  with RAM increased to 3GB and 16GB of storage — expandable to 128GB via microSD. Around the back, there’s a 13-megapixel Sony camera with OIS capabilities, and Huawei has upgraded its camera software to include a special super low-light mode, as well as Photosphere-like 360-degree panorama capabilities. On the front they have a sizeable 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Finally, the Huawei P8 is a dual-SIM phone (there will be a single-SIM version as well) with 4G connectivity supported on both SIM cards. It features two antennas – one at the top and another one at the bottom, a solution that solves dropped calls issue. Huawei claims that you will experience 50% less dropped calls, and get a 6.8% increase in call connection rate.

Another neat trick the Huawei P8 pulls out is that it does much better filtering outside noises in calls, even when connected to an earpiece. The company demonstrated the wind-suppression feature, and it worked impressively well.

Android 5.0 Lollipop runs out-of-the-box, and you’ll find Huawei’s latest EMUI 3.1 software, It’s not to everyone’s taste but — but highly skinnable, so you should be able to find something to suit your style. That’s all powered by a 2,600mAh fixed internal battery, which Huawei reps tell us should be good for about a day and a half of normal use.

There’ll be four color variants for the device at launch — a very dark, almost murdered-out black, a silvery grey and a more ostentatious gold, along with champagne. The global P8 model — and there will be two, standard for €499,and the “premium” version, which comes in black or gold, has 64GB of internal storage and sells for the higher price of €599
