Huawei’s first Windows Phone 8 smartphone the W1 is heading to American soil in prepaid form. This handset will be US only for the time being and seems to have done well in other markets. Walmart will start selling the handset “this month” at Walmart.com and at select stores.

In case you haven’t seen the specs yet the W1 packs a cool 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, a 4-inch IPS touchpanel, 1.7 GB internal storage (user usable) expandable to 32GB via micro-SD, a 5 megapixel rear camera, 0.3 megapixel front facing camera and the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS. Annoyingly there is no pricing details yet but I’m sure the price won’t blow the bank. The full press release is below.

BeginnersTech was an idea I had one Sunday when I was bored. It is now not only a website but a successful YouTube channel that takes me all over the world. Don’t ever let anyone discourage you. Chase those dreams.
