iPad Air ‘explodes’ in Australian phone store prompting evacuation

Apple’s latest iPad the Air has reportedly exploded in a Vodafone store in Australia prompting an evacuation. Ok so maybe an explosion is a bit of an over exaggeration but the iPad Air reportedly ignited in “A burst of flames” near the charging point of the display model, quickly filling the shop with smoke. Sparks continued to shoot from the device during the episode and the fire brigade had to be called to save the day.

Luckily nobody was injured during the drama except the iPad Air which was totally destroyed with a charred body and cracked screen. It is understood that a representative from Apple has taken the iPad Air away for further testing to establish the cause and as you would expect Apple have made no comment on the matter. If Apple release a statement we will be sure to update this post.
