Is BlackBerry’s Android apps lifting the spirits

Well it looks like BlackBerry’s App World is ballooning quite nicely thank you as the apps total has passed the 100,000 mark. This does not mean that Dev’s have been working overtime to release apps for the BlackBerry 10, as approximately 20% are android apps ported to App World to work on the BB 10

Now you BB10 users, never mind moaning that they are from Android  as this is great news for BlackBerry, it’s a win,win situation. The App World is growing fast and bringing developers over.

BlackBerry native apps sits around the 80,000 mark which is good going for Apps World in the short time it’s been going. The selection is getting better by the day and only lacks certain key apps like Instagram and Netflix. As both of these are in the Android app store it will not be long before they are ported over.

Martyn Mallick, BlackBerry’s vice president for global alliances and business development, said  in an interview with AllThingsD

“We give them a very nice on-ramp to get onto the platform, Our users deserve to have great content. If that is the fastest way we can get some of that content, that’s great.”

While BlackBerry users would in the main like native apps but, beggars can’t be choosers  right now. Give it time and the Apps World will grow, as it is, everyday is bringing new apps and BlackBerry claim that 30,000 apps came online over the past two weeks or so.
