LG details new, faster G Flex2 with curved HD display [Update]

G_Flex2-RLG officially unveiled its next generation curved display Android handset at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) today. So what does LG have planned for the G Flex2 after the G Flex.

Juno Cho, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said:

“The original G Flex demonstrated LG’s pioneering spirit and with the G Flex2 we have refined the curved form factor, staying true to our philosophy of innovation for a better life. The G Flex2 not only has the stunning looks, it also has the powerful guts to be at the cutting edge of current smartphone technology. Simply put, it’s a true head-turner in every sense of the word.”

  • Gesture Shot makes it easy to capture the perfect selfie with a simple hand gesture recognizable from up to 1.5 meters away.
  • Gesture View makes it easy to check your last shot immediately after taking a photo or selfie.
  • Glance View displays key information such as time, recent messages or missed calls with a downward swipe of the curved screen even while the display is off.
  • Fast Charge allows the embedded 3,000mAh battery in the G Flex2 — the only curved mobile battery in the world to be charged up to 50 percent in under 40 minutes.

LG says the G Flex2 features a “faster and more effective” self-healing back which is good news as we found the original G Flex self-healing feature to be effective but not invincible to resisting/recovering from scratches.

LG promises a global rollout of the G Flex2 following its debut in South Korea at the end of this month. No UK networks have announced plans to carry the G Flex2 yet, but it is early. Pricing and release details will be released in the future, but colour options include Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red, although over in the USA, Sprint have said that they will have an exclusive Volcano Red colour. So we look forward to see if any UK network will carry this colour.

UPDATE:

VodafoneUK_TwitterVodafone announced via their Twitter account the they will be stocking exclusively the Flex 2 for 6 weeks from launch. No colour was mentioned.

Following LG’s announcement on the launch of the New LG G Flex 2, I just wanted to let you know that it’s exclusively available on the Vodafone network for 6 weeks from launch.
