LG shows the world its full-HD display panel with 0.7mm bezel width

LGD1_worlds-narrowest-0.7mm-bezel-FHD-LCD-panelLG is no stranger to innovations in the display division, in fact it’s one of the leaders. It came as no surprise when they announced earlier this year the thinnest display in the world.

Today’s announcement however breaks LG’s previous record of 2.2mm bezel size. Now LG have announced a new 5.1-inch full-HD display panel today with a bezel width of just 0.7mm, which the vendor claims is the narrowest in the world. The display of 1080p resolution sports a pixel density of 415 ppi.

LG uses its “Neo Edge” module processing technology as well as the first “Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT)” technology.

“Neo Edge” uses a special adhesive instead of the traditional double-sided tape to attach and seal the backlight unit to the display panel’s circuit board. This achieves minimal bezel width and blocks light leakage. Another bonus is that it makes the display waterproof and dustproof.
