LifeProof Acquired by rival Otterbox



One of the top phone case makers, OtterBox has acquired US San Diego-based LifeProof, which also makes protective cases as well as complementary accessories for smartphones and tablets. Although in the UK LifeProof cases are mainly for the Apple and Samsung brands and, have a starting price of around £49.95


Much like OtterBox, LifeProof is a rapidly growing, multi-million dollar business with a strong global brand, impressive intellectual property and thriving company culture. Over the next 30 days, OtterBox will begin incorporating the LifeProof brand into the OtterBox family. More information about product availability and alignment will be determined at the completion of the integration.

Financial details of the transactions haven’t been revealed, but we do know that LifeProof’s 250-strong staff will remain in their San Diego location for the foreseeable future…
