Microsoft unveiled the next-generation Nokia X2

Nokia X2Microsoft have unveiled the next-gen Nokia X device, unsurprisingly called the Nokia X2 smartphone.

Featuring a “stylish exterior,” the phone is meant to appeal to people who like a little colour on their phones. A “cool” translucent outer layer makes the phone glossy though, which Nokia thinks is a good thing.

Two buttons are found on the right side of the phone. Fastlane makes it easy to see what events you’ve got coming in the future, what apps you’ve used recently, as well as the different tasks you’ve performed throughout any given day, and with just one tap, you’ve launched an app or responded to a notification, Very much a Google Now take off.

The Nokia X2 is also equipped with another navigation option; the brand-new ‘apps list’, which keeps your home screen clear for your most used apps, bringing Nokia X2 in line with the existing Lumia experience.

More personalisation options are now available on the start screen, too, thanks to the tile colour-picker feature.

With a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor on-board, everything you do is razor-sharp and responsive. And with a bigger 4.3-inch ClearBlack display, all of your apps, games, photos and videos are brought to life with aplomb.

Speaking of photos, there’s a 5MP camera with flash and auto focus on the back as well as a front-facing camera that’s perfect for Skype calls.

Got multiple SIM cards for flexible connectivity? No problem, the versatile Nokia X2 comes as a dual-SIM.

In terms of Microsoft apps, Skype, Outlook.com and OneDrive with 15GB storage are available right out of the box. Bing Search app, Yammer and Xbox games, including SnapAttack, Wordament and Kinectimals are available from the Nokia Store. The note-taking app, OneNote also makes its debut, giving people another useful way to experience cloud services. LINE, WeChat, Path, Facebook and Facebook Messenger are also available.
Naturally, HERE Maps and MixRadio come preloaded and can be used offline for when you’ve not got an Internet connection.

With its ability to run Android apps, Nokia X2 gives you more choice when it comes to downloading games and apps through the Nokia Store.

And, if you can’t find what you want, the latest version of Nokia Store incorporates third-party app stores, making it easier to discover great new content.

Nokia X2 will be priced at €99 excluding tax etc, and available immediately in select countries globally. It comes in glossy green, orange and black, with glossy yellow, white and matt dark grey completing the colourful range later
