My Experience suggesting phones to my Sister and Daughter

image

Staying with my sister for a few days after the Samsung event in London last Thursday She asked me to go with her to choose a new phone. My daughter was also staying and decided she was wanted a new one as well. After finding out what they wanted to be able to do with their new phone, we headed into Nottingham City centre and the Three Store. My sister was not looking for an all – singing-and-dancing phone where my daughter wanted something slightly better with a good camera and storage. Both were on a budget which limited their choice..

This started me thinking about just how many phone users actually care about what the UI is like, what apps the manufacturer has installed, how quickly will they send out updates.

My sister and daughter both said that as long as the phone is easy to navigate then the emphasis would be on cost which came down to the best plan that suited their needs and pocket.
My Sister chose the Sony Xperia J which Three had on for £13pm, 5000 text, 100 mins, 250 mb data. But because I was on Three she received an extra 2000 mins Three to Three. She does not use the data very much, only Internet banking. No Google email so no need to sync between Google apps etc. Just to make calls, sending texts and to check her online banking.

My daughter chose the Huawei ascend P2 which Three had on a deal of £23pm for 5000 text, 500mins, unlimited data, plus 2000 mins Three to Three calls as well. So for an extra £10 pm she got 400mins and unlimited data plus more storage, (32gb). The Huawei Ascend P2, also has a 13MP camera which she likes as she takes a fair amount of pictures.
Having never had a hands-on experience with either devices it gave me a great opportunity to have a play with them for a couple of days and I will be reviewing then later this week.
