Nook HD and Nook HD+ to receive Google Play

If you own the Nook HD or HD+ you will be happy to know that Google Play is on it’s way to your device. CEO William Lynch has announced that there will be an update rolling out today to the 7-Inch and 9-Inch tablets that will include Google’s Play Store.

We saw coming off holiday the market moved to multifunction tablets. Consumer research showed us the breadth of applications available is really critical.

The update will arrive in the form of an over-the-air (OTA) update and it looks like a few other Google services will be included. Confirmed already are Chrome browser, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and Google Play Music.

If you have been thinking about buying either of these tablets this update should help you make your mind up. Not only are the Nook offerings decently priced the specs aren’t to bad either. We are unsure if this will help new sales but if you are a Nook owner I’m sure you’ll be excited at the prospect of having loads of new apps.
