Online trolling is no joke and you can now face up to two years in prison

Stories of online trolling gone to far are very regular now and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. The UK government has had enough and they are ready to tackle the issue head-on by quadrupling the maximum sentence for those convicted on online abuse.

Now, as the Mail on Sunday reports, internet trolls who partake in vile abuse could receive anything up to two years behind bars as part of a renewed attempt to curb trolling. Justice Secretary Chris Grayling had this to say:

“No one would permit such venom in person, so there should be no place for it on social media. That is why we are determined to quadruple the current six-month sentence.”
