How to get Orange swapables working on ICS handsets

So you have got the latest and greatest handset through Orange but those swapable’s  like Sky Sports and deezer you where promised don’t work no matter how many times you try. You have phoned Orange and been told the famous its a server problem wait 48 hours and everything will be ok but after being told that a handful of times you stumbled on my site. bet you wish you would have googled it first lol. Anyway so heres the fix.

Step 1 – Download Dolphin HD browser from market HERE

Step 2 – Open up Dolphin go to Menu > More > Settings > Dolphin Settings

Step 3 – Click on user agent and select custom user agent.

Step 4 – Paste this into the box that pops up Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.3; en-gb; GT-I9100 Build/GINGERBREAD) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1

Step 5 – click OK and your done you should now be able to access swappables.

This tricks the servers into thinking your using a gingerbread galaxy s2. One thing to note is off your using an HTC One X when your using Sky sports click the channel you want to watch it will flash. Then you want to exit dolphin and hit the recent apps button and the player will be open in there just click it and your stream will start. Lets hope Orange get there finger out asap.

Ok so some people are still having difficulty on the One X so heres a few things you can try when you are first choosing your swappables.

1. After you have done what it says above try and get a 3g signal. When you have a 3g signal click the text you received from orange to get you onto the choose your swappable page and you should be able to pick from the list

2, If you have managed to choose your swappable but you are unable to get back on to the page after exiting it always access it via 3G then you can switch to wifi.

Sadly, this doesn’t work. I’m still left with my new HTC One X handset and being unable to access my swapables (which made me stay with Orange and choose the phone as an upgrade option)

    • James

me too and its total bollocks

      • Sorry it isnt working for you guys but i have loads of positive comments from people over at XDA regarding this TUT

  • for htc one x you have to be on 3g the first time you access it to choose your swappables when you have accessed it via 3G you can then turn on wifi. I have done it for a few friends sometimes takes a few goes

Sadly I cant get this to work on a HTC OneS or Xperia Arc ?

  • GB S3

This also doesn’t work on the Samsung Galaxy S3. I went for Orange over Voda and the Swapables were the deal breaker but have no idea when I will get to use them.

    • Hi are you a member of XDA iv helped a good few of the gs3 forum out and there up and running now. If so let me no.your user name I’ll pm you

Ryan you are a star, I wasn’t, well I was many moons ago back in the days when I had the first Orange e100 & C500 but no idea of my login details, re registered as G3001.
Look forward to hearing from you.

you are a bloody superstar. this works on the unlocked motorola defy plus. orange were not able to sort this. i am now able to enjoy the full benefits of my orange contract.

Thanks very much!! This just got swapables working on my SGS3 🙂

  • Thanks for your efforts to help us all, but this is really an unnecessary hassle that Orange needs to fix at its end. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and have had numerous texts with links to authenticate, but I never see the page that allows me to choose the Swapable. There must be hundreds of users with the same problem. I’ll give this a try, but Orange needs to get its finger out and fix the issue.

    • I totally agree sureley its a breech of contract? This works on my s3 but took a bit of messing around

Have just managed to get the Sky Sports swapable working on iPhone… it took a long time to work around, but achieved (and without jailbreaking)

In all honesty, it’s not worth the hassle as the Orange Sky Sports streaming is such poor quality most of the time (popular events seem to have worse quality than boring ones). Using different devices and paying attention to the links of buttons will get you there.

How did you manage this? I have a Galaxy Mini that is Sky Sports compatible. Did you log in via that to purchase and download Sky Sports swappable?

  • Thanks but this didn’t work on my Galaxy S3, even after setting Dolphin as my default browser, changing the user agent as instructed and clearing the default actions for Chrome (my previous default).

I’m astounded that Orange can get away with such pathetic customer “service” and cause its customers so much hassle and wasted time. I would estimate I’ve spent more than 5 hours on this in total and still got nowhere. I have 1) Rung Orange several times and been kept on hold for ages; 2) Emailed THREE times and received a message back a few minutes later saying “Whoops! We can’t handle your query by email. Please ring us on…” 3) Sent a letter by first class post to Orange Customer Services ten days ago, with no reply. The only thing that has stopped me taking action against Orange for breach of contract is the discounted phone, the status of which is unknown to me if I manage to leave.

I have got a HTC One X as well, i have chosen my swapable fine and can get on the website fine. But everytime i want to play the Sky Sports Video (any channel) it just says ‘Sorry, this video cannot be played’.
This is after doing the above steps on WIFI.
    Any help is appreciated.

Just updated my Galaxy S3 to leaked Jelly Bean 4.1.1 XXDLI8 (via Rooting) so no Orange apps work but did this fix and now Sky sports and Deezer work perfectly through Dolphin.
Your orange doesn’t work but I have set my account page as a “Speed Dial” so can check it this way untill they get it to work in about 6 months time knowing Orange.
    Thanks again for this.

  • Alamel

Just got this working on LG optimus 2x (P990), now got Sky Sports and Deezer.
    many Thanks.

  • Neil

This looks like it has worked on my S3LTE. Had to try the Swapables website a few times though as I kept receiving various error messages. Perseverance pays. Thanks Ryan. I also contacted Orange customer support and they could offer no advice other than to wait it out.

  • Jonty

still not working on my s3 =[

  • Dicky

I have this working now on S3. Got dolphin, copied the setting above across.

Go into my orange, click tv or the middle button next to the plane (roaming).

Now……you should have mobile data set to off, unless yu can afford the streaming on mobile. then when you click the TV it will say it needs your telephone number and will send a text.

    Do this.

Click link in text and open in Dolphin, (change on settings apps if another default browser starts.

It iopens you on ‘your orange’ page on the web click TV and you will see the channels come up

after then its’s down to your broadband speed.

    • Joe

Does this mean that this fix makes the swapable use your inclusive data? Aren’t the swapables not supposed to use any data / require WiFi?

  • brendan

Worked for me, thanks. LG Optimus 4HD 4.0.3

  • Kev Quinn

I’ve got a Nexus 4 and couldn’t get them to work even with this bu- t change the User Agent to ” Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.4; en-gb; GT-I9300 Build/IMM76D) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30 ” and managed to get it working. Sky Sports doesn’t seem worth it though as its very poor quality.

All orange said to me was to swap my phone to a compatible one – bit crap really

  • Joe

Does this fix still allow the streaming of music through Deezer without using contracted data? Cheers.

  • ryangenie

    legend – THANK YOU

  • Becky

    Thank you! Worked a treat!
