Qualcomm joins the wearable’s market with the Toq SmartWatch

So if you don’t like the look of the Samsung Galaxy Gear you don’t have to worry as you now have another option to choose from and we are sure there will be plenty to follow. Qualcomm  have entered the smartwatch game with the Qualcomm Toq and it certainly looks awesome.

The Toq features a low-power Mirasol display meaning no back lighting is required and consumes battery life in very low quantities. There is not a lot of information available at the minute but one killer feature is the case doubles as a wireless charger allowing you to simply place your watch inside to begin charging. But with an always on device that lasts days you won’t have to place your watch in it that often.

Just as other smartwatches allow you will be able to make and receive calls, text messages, meeting reminders and various notifications straight from your wrist as long as you have an Android smartphone running 4.0.3 or higher. As Qualcomm love developers the Toq app will connect to the watch as well which just happens to use the AllJoyn Notification Services Framework meaning hackers will love this one.

Qualcomm are also looking to supply a new Bluetooth headset that pairs with the watch and also charges wirelessly using the case. These look to be pretty good as well with focus put on the individual woofers and tweeters to deliver nice sound quality.
