Samsung announces the Galaxy Core

Samsung_Galaxy_Core_announced

Well, it is happening again. Samsung releases a new flagship phone — the Galaxy S4 — and now comes the onslaught of low- to mid-range devices. The Samsung Galaxy Core will not give you the latest and greatest of Android features and experiences, but it will defiantly give you what the core of Android has to offer!

Since this is a low- to mid-range device, you can expect similar specs. This phone will feature a 4.3″  WVGA display, a 1.2 dual-core processor, 5 Mega-pixel camera, and  Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. What may make this phone truly interesting, however, is the fact that there will be a dual SIM version of the Galaxy Core. These two SIM slots will also be able to remain activated at the same time. Not too shabby!

Some other interesting feature include Smart Stay — which turns off the back lighting to the phone if you are not looking at it — , S Voice, and Smart Alert. Smart Alert will actually alert you to a missed call or message once you pick the phone up.

The dual SIM version should be out this month, where as the single SIM version will come out in July. Samsung has not yet release the targeted markets for the Galaxy Core, but most people would assume Europe and Asia are safe bets.

I am an avid enthusiast of everything mobile. I have used many different platforms, including Blackberry, Android, iOS – and yes – even WebOS. I want to use my experience with these platforms, and my background in engineering, to give my thoughts on the functionality of current mobile technology and its impact on the industry. I hope to foster discussion on these topics, and I am looking forward to hearing from all of you.
