Samsung expands compact NX camera line with the NX2000

After the release of its NX300 Samsung has added a new compact system camera to its line-up NX2000 for those who can’t quite stretch to the NX300 price tag. It offers many of the features of the pricier NX300 high-end model.
The Samsung Smart Camera NX2000 features a 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, an ISO range of 100 – 25,600, and can shoot in RAW and JPEG. It is also the second of Samsung’s cameras to boast compatibility with the company’s optional 3D lens solution, so can create three-dimensional images too. And 1080p video can be captured in 2D or 3D (with the lens).
Options are plentiful, with connections via, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi support (Smart Camera 2.0) and NFC on board, so you can simply tap it on a compatible device to instantly open an app and wirelessly transfer photos.

The NX2000 differs from the more expensive NX300 in that its rear touch-panel is TFT-LCD rather than OLED. However, its 800 x 400 resolution is the same. It’s also 3.7-inch, so larger (1,152k dots).
Samsung claims that continuous shooting can be done at 8fps, and the battery is 1,130mAh, but hasn’t revealed how long that will last in operation.
No UK price has yet been discussed, but it is believed to cost $649 in the U.S. We’re also chasing for a sale date. It will be available in pink, white and silver, and, like the NX300, come packaged with a copy of Adobe Lightroom 4.
