So we have had a load of email asking if we could maybe review a case for people on a tight budget. We searched for a few cases and found the FlexiShield case from Gearzap which comes in at a cool budget and pocket friendly £5.99. So I guess the question now is can a budget case compete with the big boys? Lets have a look

The first thing I noticed about the FlexiSheild case was the budget packaging. Usually when we a re reviewing cases some of the wrapping is as nice as the case but in this case it is not. Does that matter? Of course not as it’s the case and how much protection it offers that we are looking at but obviously money has to be saved somewhere for these cases to be sold at great prices. The name FlexiSheild says it all really this case is a rubberized TPU case that is very flexible and should shield your device from damage.

The case itself fits on the Galaxy S4 with no trouble at all it simply pulls into place and remains firm when on. The rim of this case feature a really tough TPU that will ensure all the regular impact zones of your device are protected well. The FlexiSheild features cutouts for all ports and buttons and do not impact on there access or usage at all. The rear features cutouts for the camera/flash and speaker and again the cutouts cause no problems here. The 3.5mm cutout is of a decent size allowing you to use a great selection of headphones while using this case which again is a real big selling point for me as I use different headphones depending on where or what I am doing.

In terms of protecting your device this case isn’t exactly bulletproof but offers very decent amounts for the price range. The from of the case features a raised lip allowing you to lie your case on a flat surface with no worrys of scratching your wonderful screen. As i said previously the toughened edges give me comfort as I know they will do a job if I was unlucky enough to drop my device.

When it comes to look and feel it does look like a budget case in my eyes but this may be because I have the luxury of getting all the top end cases around. When holding the device with the FlexiSheild on you get a lot of added grip which will again help decrease the chances of dropping the device during daily usage.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a budget case for your Galaxy S4 then this case is worth a look, just dont expect miracles or the performance and looks of a top end case.
