Samsung to release Galaxy Note 3 OTA update to fix third-party accessory support issues

image

Everyone was happy to hear that the Android 4.4 KitKat update was making it’s way to the Galaxy Note 3 that is until an unfortunate bug was causing third-party accessories like view covers not to function. When the update reached users they where finding that their replica S-View covers no longer functioned and a lot of them took to social media to vent their frustration. As you would expect a load of blogs just assumed it was all part of a Samsung master plan to generate more revenue when in fact it was only a bug. Well Samsung are set to make things right again and have given the following statement to the guys over at Ars Technica:

We have currently identified a software compatibility issue with the Galaxy Note 3 update to Android 4.4 (KitKat) and select 3rd party accessories. A software update will be available shortly. We are committed to offering a diverse and reliable mobile experience for all customers, providing continued support and solutions for any issues that arise with product updates for both Samsung manufactured and third-party accessories.

If you are one of the unlucky users to be caught up in this mess then you should keep an eye out for the update heading your way. I for one am just glad that this puts the debate to bed as I could not see any reason why Samsung would do this on purpose.
