Samsung to show Curved Screen Smartphone in October?

Samsung has announced plans to launch a smartphone with a curved screen in October, the company states.¬†Samsung’s mobile business head of strategic marketing D.J. Lee announced the move during the Galaxy Note III launch event in Seoul, Wednesday, Reuters reports.

No specifics about the device were given, not even its name. According to Engadget, however, the device will have a curve-shaped OLED panel but it will not be “completely flexible.”

We know, however, that Samsung is interested in launching a phone with a flexible display since CES 2013, where the company showed a prototype of such a device called Youm. Whether the upcoming device is an extension of the ideas behind Youm or a completely new phone remains to be seen
