Samsung to stop production of Apple’s A8 CPU’s

a8chipApple and Samsung’s CPU partnership looks to be coming to an end, if reports that indicate Samsung will stop producing of the cpu’s for Apple are true.
Picking up the production will be, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) based in Hsin-Chu Science-Based Industrial Park, Taiwan. They’re are the largest independent semiconductor manufacturer on the planet.

The report indicates that Samsung’s reasons for not manufacturing Apple’s A8 SoC  is that it just not that profitable for the Korean tech giant to produce the chips at their current work capacity.

Samsung could keep producing memory chips as this gives them a good income as many OEM’s use similar chips for their memory.

Having TSMC produce the A8 would mean them increasing capacity, something that they failed to active last time Apple tried to cut the cord with Samsung. This time it looks like it’s Samsung’s turn to do the cutting.
