News came today that Sonys new handset the Xperia Neo will now be delayed until Q3 due to Japanese quake, and that there ARC and Play unit numbers will be very limited.

Xperia Neo

Sony has officialy had to delay the launch of this wonderful handset until at least july, yet another peice of bad news coming out of japan seems like its all bad news these days and this mounts to the unhappy trend. Sony says that this is due to “supply chain disruptions”. Another two members of Sonys Gingerbread family the Play and ARC will now have limited numbers with the play actually failing to meet the demand in the uk and some carriers not recieving any units. Sony will detail a full report of there problems on april 19th when they post there quarterly results.

Here’s a snippet from there facebook page.

As Sony Ericsson’s continues to assess the impact of the situation in Japan on its business, we have communicated to our operator customers and distributors that some volume of Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo phones has been affected. Xperia neo has already been introduced to the marketplace in limited quantities. However, due to supply chain disruptions resulting from the situation in Japan, we have shifted the timing of Xperia neo’s broader launch and it is now planned for early Q3.

We will address this topic at the time of our Q1 financial results announcement call that is scheduled for April 19, 2011.
