Sony reveals new MMO H1Z1

Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley has revealed that the company has been developing one awesome looking and free-to-play MMO called H1Z1

Here’s what he had to say:

“It’s a massively multiplayer game in which players fight for survival in a world where death is the only sure thing, The H1Z1 virus devastated mankind and left nothing but death and destruction in its wake and a world nearly empty of human life where the remnants of humanity are in a fight against extinction against those infected with the virus.”

So I know what your thinking at this point, how does this differ from any other survival/zombie game? Well Smedley addressed the similarities by talking about the difference in features that H1Z1 will have like multiple servers that feature different rule sets that are able to hold “thousands of players”. The idea is to create an in game economy built around a trading system and much more.

He went on to say:

“It uses our proprietary next-gen Forgelight engine and that means we’ve had a lot of really cool technology to work with to make the game we wanted to make”

He then goes on to say that the game is designed to allow players to
become part of the design process and stating that the design team is putting emphasis on “player ownership and building”.

“We’ll be opening it up for Player Studio creations too so expect player-created items to make their way into the game”

The game has a newly formed subreddit if you would like to put forward and questions or suggestions as the team are “very open to answering questions,” and they will also be doing a live stream of a play test session next week at some point so stay tuned for more news on that.

We’re pretty excited about H1Z1 what do you think so far? What would you like Sony to bring to the table to make this different? Let us know below or on any of our social media accounts.
