This is a great move by Sony as many of users know that unlocking the bootloader does not break your warranty, just within the UK laws at least.
The EU is working to have all smartphones sold in Europe, come with the facility to, or have, bootloaders unlocked and must be able to use any network sim in 2015.
If you go ahead and do it to your phone, you could render your phone useless.
