A few days ago we reported that Three UK was looking into purchasing O2 from Telefonica, and it seems that the deal has been confirmed. The deal which is said to cost around the £10 billion mark is expected to finalised as soon as this morning.
The report arrives from The Financial Times which says:
The deal to merge O2, Britain’s second-biggest mobile operator, with Hutchison Whampoa’s Three is expected to be announced as early as Friday morning, said two people familiar with the situation.
So what does this mean for the UK consumer? It’s huge news if you ask me and will certainly be a massive shake up for the UK mobile market. We will certainly be following this closely and will let you know about any developments so stay tuned.
