Google took a lot of flak when they first introduced their Chromebook, back in mid-2011. In some quarters they even described it as a toy!
Well they have, as we all know, been made to eat-their-words.  Gartner believe over 5 million units will have been sold by the end of 2014.

With the affordable devices coming from good reliable vendors, it made many people turning away from more traditional laptop options in favour of the lightweight Chrome OS offerings, including yours truly.
One of the most popular of the Chromebooks in the last year albeit in the US, was Toshiba. The Toshiba Chromebook 2 made a big splash, thanks to its mix of reasonable price and decent specs and consistently was a good seller in the US.
In the UK however you have been waiting for some information on release date then we have some good news. Amazon UK have the Toshiba Chromebook 2 on pre-order with a lead time of ‘one to two months’.

That does seem a bit early for pre-orders to be up and running, so the time frame might change to become available sooner in due course. That said, if you want to pick up the Toshiba Chromebook 2 then both RAM options are available.

Starting with the cheaper of the two is the Toshiba CB30-B-103 and comes with a 13.3 TN display with a 1366 × 768 resolution. Inside, this one includes 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, an Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core processor (clocking at 2.16GHz). This one is also the longer lasting battery of the two with an expected 11.5 hours on offer and is currently up on Amazon for £219.99.

The second option is the Toshiba CB30-B-104 and comes with the same 13.3″ sized display. Although, this one does come with an upgraded IPS Full HD resolution with a 1920 × 1080 resolution. Inside, this one includes 4GB of RAM, 16GB Internal storage and the same 2,16GHz Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core processor. In contrast to the lesser display option, this one is expected to offer up to 9.5 hours battery life. If this is more your choice then you can pre-order via Amazon for £269.99.

Will you be picking up the Toshiba Chromebook 2 at these prices? Are you one of those who have already converted to a Chromebook? What do you think of them in general? Let us know.
