Ubuntu Edge breaks records and hearts at the same time

Now we all love Canonical’s innovative dual booting hybrid smartphone here at BeginnersTech HQ and we were not surprised when the crowd funding hit $10,311,220. Although this is a great achievement and smashes the crowdfunding records of both the Pebble smartwatch and Indiegigo’s previous record holder the Scanadu Scout, it is just not enough to give the Ubuntu Edge smartphone the go ahead.

Canonical was looking to hit a goal of $32 million but unfortunately it didn’t even nearly hit it. Fear not tho as there is still hope that we will see this wonderful device come to fruition as Canonical founder Mark Shuttleworth told the BBC that some manufacturers have noticed all the hubbub and have come “out of the woodwork” to discuss taking the Android/Ubuntu concept forward. So let’s hope this is not the last we see of the Edge but even if it is, the idea of other manufacturers possibly implementing an Android/Ubuntu dual boot OS is certainly exciting. The full press release is below.

What do you think of the Edge let us know below.

BeginnersTech was an idea I had one Sunday when I was bored. It is now not only a website but a successful YouTube channel that takes me all over the world. Don’t ever let anyone discourage you. Chase those dreams.
