UK wants to test Google’s self-driving cars

Google has been testing their self-driving cars for some time now,  however all that testing has taken place in the US. While that’s all very good and well London Officials think its time the UK got some of that self-driving love.

According to Sky News, London officials are in the process of trying to persuade the company to test them here in Britain. Their case is that not everyone drives on the Right hand side of the road so it would be ideal to try it out in the UK. Isabel Dedring,  London’s deputy mayor of transport had a meeting “a few weeks ago” following several talks that had taken place over the last three years. Clearly talks aren’t going very smooth considering the time scale.

“It’s still very early days but we would be keen for trials to happen in London whenever Google are ready to move them into other countries.”

This move by the UK is one of many to try and encourage trials of this type of transportation in the UK. Either way it’s certainly pretty exciting. Whats your thoughts on self-driving vehicles? Let me know below or on social media.
