VirginMedia launch Quad package, mobile, landline, TV and broadband

Operating as a MVNO  (extended its Mobile Virtual Network Operator) since 1999, when Virgin Mobile became the world’s first MVNO after securing a deal with what was then known as One2One, now with EE of course. It has never combined smartphone plans into the cost of its TV, phone and broadband deals. Now comes the news that’s all about to change, after VirginMedia confirmed today it will launch a new range of bundles that will form the first true ‘quad-play’ packages in the UK.

The packages will start at £35 with a mobile SIM (also excluding line rental) and are marketed under names like Big Kahuna – £45 per month or £50 with mobile SIM and Big Bang – £30 per month or £35 with mobile SIM.

Each Big Bundle can be tailored to suit a customer’s individual or family needs with great value extras available to add at any time. This includes the flexibility to take more of any particular service, such as adding Sky Sports or Movies channels.

With 152Mb, users can download an HD movie in less than four minutes and an entire music album in a breathtaking four seconds. The ultrafast service really comes into its own though when people go online at home at the same time and need plenty of internet bandwidth. This market-beating bundle also includes the highly acclaimed TiVo® with over 230 TV channels with over 40 in HD, such as every BT Sport channel, and a home phone service.

You’ll get unlimited calls and texts but not data — that’s only applicable to VIP Tariffs, which do not come as part of the new bundles. It looked like BT was going to become the first provider to the market with a all in bugle, after it signed a deal with EE to provide connectivity for its own-brand 4G network. Virgin’s quad-play packages are now available to existing customers and will roll out to the rest of the UK in June.
