WordPress Under Attack!

Wordpress is currently under attack by a botnet ‘tens of thousands’ of computers strong. EEK!

Wordpress bloggers that kept their username as ‘admin’ are most likely to be attacked by the relentless botnet.

Wordpress founder Matt Mullenweg has some revolutionary advice,

Here’s what I would recommend: If you still use admin as a username on your blog, change it, use a strong password.

He also recommends using two-factor authentication if you’re using, as well as making sure you’re on the latest version of WordPress.

Do this and you’ll be ahead of 99% of sites out there and probably never have a problem.

So what should you do if your username is ‘admin’ : CHANGE IT!!!! NOW!!!

Hi my name is Kaedyn, and I’m a guest blogger on BeginnersTech as well as running my own site Gadget Dweebs. My biggest passion I have in life is gadgets, and I’m not fussy with the genre. It can be a sport gadget, a cooking gadget, a gaming gadget, a useful gadget (and a fair few un-useful ones)…if its new, I have to play with it. My day job is a city boy helping entrepreneurs get funding for their dreams, by night, I’m a gadget loving dweeb.
