Xbox Live back up and running after alleged DDOS attack

Xbox Live was suffering an outage overnight which left many American and Canadian gamers unable to get their gaming fix. The outage left some users unable to access friends lists while others were unable to use the Xbox Live service at all.

A known hacker group called Lizard Squad has taken the ‘credit’ for the outage as they boasted on Twitter. If you remember this is the same group who claimed responsibility for the PS4 outage not so long ago. Not only are they taking responsibility they have also threatened to carry out another attack over the festive period. Let’s hope they don’t as at the end of the day it’s us that suffer for their silly actions.

The service appears to be back up and running and we have reached out to Microsoft for comment.
