After 3 years of silence, Apple finally refreshed the iPod touch with upgraded hardware and color options.
The new iPod touch packs a 4-inch Retina display and an improved FaceTime HD camera, a 64-bit A8 processor, a new 8-megapixel camera — a M8 co-processor for motion tracking and iOS 8.4.
Price and memory options go from $199 for the 16GB model to $399 for the 128GB model.
“iPod touch gives customers around the world access to Apple Music, the App Store and iOS, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, starting at just $199, with big advancements like the A8 chip and the 8 megapixel iSight camera, customers can experience next-level gameplay, take even more beautiful photos and enjoy their favorite music, TV shows and movies.” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPhone, iPod and iOS Product Marketing.
A lot of us thought the iPod Touch was dead, however, Apple still thinks it has some value, specially now that Apple Music is out. You won’t need to buy an expensive iPhone, iPad or MacBook to experience Apple Music, you can now buy a cheap iPod Touch for $199 and enjoy Apple’s new music streaming service.
Apple also refreshed the iPod nano and iPod shuffle with new colors.
