Gmail for iOS gets an update

If you use Gmail on iOS, you know how much of a pain it can be to get whisked away to the mobile web when clicking on a Google Maps, YouTube, or Chrome link. Well that’s all about to end.

Google has provided a small update that will allow you to go directly to the Google on-board apps when clicking on a link in Gmail. This is not going to revolutionize the use of Google on iOS, but it will make you life a lot easier and more convenient. As an added bonus, if you like to be sent to the mobile web you can choose to disable the new feature.

The other nice part of the Gmail update, is that you can now  sign out of a single Google account  at a time instead of all accounts at once. Since iOS allows you to have up to five separate accounts, this will come in handy.

I am an avid enthusiast of everything mobile. I have used many different platforms, including Blackberry, Android, iOS – and yes – even WebOS. I want to use my experience with these platforms, and my background in engineering, to give my thoughts on the functionality of current mobile technology and its impact on the industry. I hope to foster discussion on these topics, and I am looking forward to hearing from all of you.
