Pentagon looking to build Avengers style helicarriers

Could we see real life helicarriers being used by the US military in the future?

Well it looks like the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), a branch of the Pentagon, is not ruling the awesome idea out. DARPA announced on Sunday that they are looking for proposals to enable existing large aircrafts to carry, launch and recover multiple unmanned air systems for a variety of missions.

Dan Patt, DARPA program manager had this to say:

“We want to find ways to make smaller aircraft more effective, and one promising idea is enabling existing large aircraft, with minimal modification, to become ‘aircraft carriers in the sky’.” “We envision innovative launch and recovery concepts for new UAS designs that would couple with recent advances in small payload design and collaborative technologies.”

Clearly this is awesome and we hope that some talented individuals will submit proposals that are due in by November 26, 2014. We will be following this closely to see what develops.

Would you love to see a S.H.E.I.L.D. like helicarrier flying overhead?

BeginnersTech was an idea I had one Sunday when I was bored. It is now not only a website but a successful YouTube channel that takes me all over the world. Don’t ever let anyone discourage you. Chase those dreams.
